To generate the sounds for this album, Andy Dixon a.k.a. Secret Mommy spent half a year collecting unique recordings of various kinds of sports - his former high school's basketball practice, the local swimming pool, an ice rink, a martial arts training session and so on. Soon he found he had amassed a large collection, and set about manipulating them like a gleeful young child. The result? the sound of a tennis racket hitting a ball soon became a bouncing beat, and the squeak of rubber soles a melody.

Secret Mommy has been producing music in this way for a variety of labels but "Very Rec" is his most elaborate and focussed concept album yet. But, rather than an album of heady academic experimentation, "Very Rec" simply makes our body move. It makes us dance and rejoice at the joy of music.

Also included in this Japanese version of "Very Rec" is a special bonus track composed entirely of sounds taken from a Holga, the King of Toy Cameras. The very same camera he used to take the pictures for the cover.
