Powershovel is proud to release the work by world class DJ and producer, Maayan Nidam, from Berlin.

Last January Powershovel Audio completed the recording of a brilliant new Cuban record, with some of the best musicians and singers from around the world. This record is adeptly titled ' women are beautiful'.

Soon after finishing this recording, we started musing on ways these amazing sounds could be broken down & put back together. After much discussion we decided to hand over the recording to Maayan. We now know we made the right choice.

Imagine exquisite, warm balero and cha cha cha pieces, sublimated and suffocated yet fighting to break through the usually stoic sounds of minimal techno. You cannot even see the sea, yet you somehow catch a scent, a glimpse of something there, in the corner of your eye. It is difficult to picture how this combination could ever work. But it did.

This piece is part of the 2008 art project "Women are here", by Powershovel. We dedicated this year to the fabulous creativity of contemporary women, and their achievements in painting, collage, photography and music.
